Welcome to Wilderness Wind!

Wilderness Wind  offers Lakeside cabins and outfitting for trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Through our canoe gear rental and lakeside resort lodging, Wilderness Wind offers the opportunity for transformative nature experiences that enable listening, connection, cooperation, and environmental responsibility. Open to people of all  backgrounds, our program is deeply rooted in our desire to connect with nature.

Exploring the vast mystery of nature, and our place in it, can begin a journey that changes who we are. We invite you to share this journey with us.

Our lakeside resort is about 10 miles west of Ely, Minnesota just off Hwy 169 (at 1759 Bradach Rd). At Lakeside on Armstrong Lake, we have a yurt and four lakeside cabins, available for rental and retreats..

Join us on a journey into wilderness: a place of mystery, laughter and discovery.

Wilderness Wind is owned and operated by Chicago Voyagers, a nonprofit that provides outdoor active experiences to urban youth that would not otherwise have access to such opportunities. Youth participate in biking, hiking, rock climbing, camping, and river and lake canoe paddling trips. Included are trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Kids develop self confidence and are specifically taught leadership and teamwork skills. Your stay at our cabin helps support these programs!  You can also donate directly at the link below.

Wilderness Wind nurtures our relationships with Nature through wilderness living that promotes serenity, cooperation, and environmental sustainability.
