Employment

Whether you are interested in trip logistics and administration, building and grounds maintenance, or discovering all the back bays and rivers of the Boundary Waters, Wilderness Wind has a position for you.

Many of the summer staff members are trip leaders. Trip leaders will
:
  • discover the beauty and depth of a million acres of wilderness.
  • watch relationships grow
  • meet people and learn from each other's encounters with creation and the Creator.
  • explore and develop leadership skills in a new setting
  • enjoy a setting and position that foster growth, reflection and recharging oneself and others.

For trip leaders, the summer starts with a seven-day orientation trip on which staff develop or broaden the skills needed for trip leading. During the summer, trip leaders lead or co-lead 2 to 3 trips each month.

Crucial to any wilderness program are the logistical, administrative and maintenance staff. Wilderness Wind has positions for folks interested in base-camp work. The positions include head cook, maintenance director, office assistant and internet guru,as well as, lakeside coordinator, buildings and grounds assistant and kitchen assistant.

These staff members:
  • interact with different groups of people from across North America
  • play a significant role in the smooth operation of a small growing organization.
  • enjoy the setting that fosters growth, reflection and recharging one's spirit
  • may fish, canoe or relax each evening to the sound of the loons.

It is helpful if base camp staff can also join us for the seven-day orientation trip. This is an important time to build staff community and prepare physically and spiritually for the summer ahead.

We are excited about the ministry of Wilderness Wind and welcome you to consider the diversity of positions available.
